BRANDING
  Company / Product Naming • Logomark / Identity • Tagline / Slogan
Mission Statement • environmental branding • trademarks / copyrights

Every journey begins with a single step. The race to market supremacy is no different. It begins with a seemingly insignificant first step, followed by another of the same, and so on. Likewise, every presentation of your logo, your tagline, your likeness is another step in the race to become the most recognized and preferred source in your industry. Though seemingly insignificant from a pure action and reward point of view, the investment to display the corporate logo on everything in sight is a good one for any company. Each time that presentation is viewed is another step in the race to convince that viewer of the value of your offerings.

FAQ:

What is branding?
Branding is a race in which the winner is the one that becomes the preferred source for products or services in a given industry. Whether you sell lemonade on the corner or missiles to Uncle Sam chances are that you have competition. Branding is the act of communicating to and the reinforcing of a name/image/message to the point that it becomes part of the consciousness of your end users.

What is environmental branding?
Environmental branding is the act of communicating to and the reinforcing of a name/image/message within ones own physical surroundings.

Why is branding important to my small company?
Small companies can become big companies faster than ever before. A great example is a couple of young men in a major metropolitan area that repaired computers for a living. Within the city they had perhaps hundreds of direct competitors. Nationwide that number was probably in the tens of thousands. Yet theirs is the one that was bought out by Best Buy for millions of dollars. What made them stand out against all of the other computer repair shops was the recognition of their brand, Geek Squad.

What is the purpose of a logo?
A logo is the core message, the image, the essence of the company/product/event that it represents. It is a symbol of reputation, quality and character. A logo is most effectively used when applied where people - customers, potential customers, even employees - can see it often and have what it stands for reinforced in their hearts and minds.

What is the difference between an average logo and a great logo?
There is only one school of thought when it comes to logo design, that simplicity is key. An average logo may be colorful and eye catching, but a great logo communicates the essence of its’ company/product/event so powerfully that it does so even in a positive/negative, or black and white, color space. A great logo is discernable from a distance and applicable to any medium with minimal costs. An average logo may look great on a computer monitor but is not cost effective when applied to the company fleet vehicles, packaging, or the sign on the corporate buildings.
